Takeaways:

Indeed job postings 

The US Indeed Job Posting Index (JPI) finished out the year in the same fashion it spent much of 2024, coasting along between 10 to 13% above the pre-pandemic baseline. As of January 17, 2025, job postings were down 8.3% from the same date last year as employer demand for workers continued to weaken, but remained 10.8% above the pre-pandemic baseline.

Transportation job postings 

Transportation job postings ended the year all over the road. Logistic Support job postings emerged as a bright spot in 2024, rising 5.9% in the year to January 17, 2025. Driving job postings clocked a relatively small decline of 3.6% over the past year, but remain 37.6% above their pre-pandemic level. Loading & Stocking postings, once in incredibly high demand coming out of the pandemic, have steadily marched downward and are now just 4.8% above the pre-pandemic baseline. Aviation job postings lead declines across the vertical, descending 22.2% over the past year.

Transportation wage growth  

The trends in wage growth for Driving and Loading & Stocking reflect the weakening demand for workers. Loading & Stocking wage growth slowed consistently through most of the year and sits at 2.1% as of December 2024, well below the labor market average of 3.3%. Driving wages have stagnated in the second half of the year, resting at 0.0% in December 2024.
